TOKYO, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Tuesday morning as the Nikkei's recent rise and the yen's strength against the U.S. dollar saw investors opting for profits.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 132.00 points, or 0.56 percent, from Monday to 23,427.30.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 11.30 points, or 0.68 percent, at 1,639.80.

Iron and steel, air transportation and land transportation issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
