BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan on Tuesday reported 1,021 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Wednesday.

The NCOC, a department leading campaign against the pandemic, said that the country has conducted 19,997,075 tests so far, confirming overall 1,260,669 cases, including 1,191,425 recoveries.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 34,001,743 on Wednesday, as 15,823 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, as many as 226 deaths due to the pandemic since Tuesday morning took the total death toll to 451,189.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported 55 new Delta variant cases of COVID-19 in the community on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country's community outbreak to 1,719.

Fifty-three of the new infections were recorded in the largest city Auckland and two cases were in nearby Waikato, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a press conference.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 1,584 more cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours until midnight Tuesday, raising the total number of coronavirus infections to 335,742.

The daily caseload was up from 1,347 in the prior day, hovering above 1,000 for 99 straight days since July 7. The daily average tally for the past week was 1,768.
